Bismuth is a heavy, relatively brittle metal that appears iridescent with a rainbow of colors due to oxidation that develops as the metal cools. Thinner oxide layers result in purple and blue, while thicker layers produce green, gold and red. Bismuth crystals grow in a beautiful and unusual spiraled stair-step shape because the edges grow at a faster rate. This crystal shape is known as a hopper crystal.
Bizmuth specimens are often lab grown, though this mineral does occur naturally. These specimens are grown in a lab under specific conditions to carefully produce beautiful bismuth crystals that showcase the best qualities.
Metaphysically, bismuth is said to aid focus and vision, to relieve feelings of loneliness or isolation, to face transformations with calm confidence. It could be good for easing transitions, acceptance of change, and focusing energy towards adaptation.
